9 Times The Undertaker Helped Make WWE Superstars (And The One That Got Away)
7. Edge
Running parallel at times with Undertaker vs. Batista, and born out of WWE's souring on Mr Kennedy, Edge truly earned the nickname of 'The Ultimate Opportunist' when he battled The Undertaker for over a year between 2007 and 2008. It began when Edge cashed in to win the World Heavyweight title from 'Taker after his Steel Cage Match with Batista, but the rivalry evolved past who had the gold.
There was yet another stellar 'Mania match for The Deadman following his win over Batista, making it three astronomical bouts in four years (sorry, Mark Henry). We also got another Hell In A Cell classic to add to the catalogue of Mean Mark Trenchcoat, including a spot where Edge ended up sent through the ring in a fiery demise.
Edge actually retired 'Taker for a spell, and the constant involvement of La Familia, the weasely Edge's cronies at the time, set the blueprint for the Canadian's amazing heel characters and made for one of the greatest feuds in recent memory. Edge had been a world champion already - and already had a Money In The Bank cash-in under his belt - but going up against 'Taker catapulted The Rated R Superstar to bonafide legend status.
