9 Unhinged R-Truth Skits That Had You Doubting His Sanity
3. The Presidential Debate
The Elimination Chamber pay-per-view in 2012 was notable for two things: firstly, a Chamber bout for the (now defunct) World Heavyweight Championship where the finale of the match saw heel champion Daniel Bryan faced off against Santino bloody Marella; and secondly, for being completely sh*tbox. The other Elimination Chamber match on the show (for the more prestigious WWE Championship held by a then babyface CM Punk) was the opening match on the card. Once again devaluing the whole pay-per-view, the match was laid out to be the Punk/Jericho show - no one else really had a chance and no one else got to eliminate anybody. The match only existed in order to fill space on a rubbish card and promote CM Punk and Chris Jericho's burgeoning feud, intended to culminate at Wrestlemania XXVIII. What was far more fun than the match - or the event - itself was the promotional debate between the six participants on the go-home episode of RAW the previous Monday, 13th February 2012. Running as the opening segment of the show, each of the six men in the match got a chance to put themselves over... but R-Truth seemed to think that he was running for the highest office in the land. https://youtu.be/8c6vP6ePGdw?t=4m45s Killings steals the show yet again here, but it's heel Dolph Zigglers' reaction to his speech that elevates the segment: he's so incredulous that a man in Truth's delusional state is being allowed to compete, and his off-camera outraged bleating makes Truth's lunatic babbling even funnier.
