7. Solid Business For The Women’s Title
Stop the press. There's some praise for what Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair are building on the way.
Stratton beat Piper Niven in a perfectly fine one-on-one, then Charlotte blindsided her with a chop block and Figure Eight. There's a really nice contrast between champ and challenger; Stratton is the full-time workhorse who’s taking on all comers, whilst Flair is a part-time princess who believes she should just be handed everything on a plate because of her bulging trophy cabinet since debuting years ago. There was a good amount of aggression from Charlotte when ambushing her foe, and Tiffany did a good job selling the leg after that Figure Eight.
The match-into-segment was the best thing this feud has done thus far by a mile, and it gives hope their WrestleMania bout won’t be a washout after all. That's been a constant worry since Flair won the women's Royal Rumble in early February. She's been viewed as an unwanted challenger who's going to wreck Stratton's push, but...who knows? If she's cast as totally dominant during the build, then WWE will likely have Charlotte slip on the proverbial banana peel in Las Vegas.
Here's another plus: Fans in Philadelphia showered Flair with boos for daring to cut down their latest fave. This wasn't Charlotte standing nose to nose with Tiffy and getting the best of her. It was a savvy veteran using every trick in the book to gain an advantage physically and psychologically heading into the biggest show(s) of the entire year.
One can certainly live with that!
