9 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (30 Mar)

3. Not Too Sure About This One, Max

MJF FTR
AEW

Pinnacle alumni demonstrated great character work across the board last night.

It's a shame that Gunn Club vs. FTR was partly sacrificed for this, spurning a genuine opportunity to elevate Colten and Austin, who were their usual obnoxious selves opposite a couple of classicists playing babyface in South Carolina. Nonetheless, the match was sacrificed for the greater good. FTR's inevitable triumph over the Gunn family's specific brand of buffoonery was never going to be more important than their shifting relationship with MJF and Wardlow.

Benched last week, a furious Wardlow rampaged through the building mid-match, bulldozing through security team members after MJF and Mark Sterling had put up fliers warning staff of this specific possibility. He was eventually stopped by a team too great in number for even the big man to thwart, easing MJF's panic attack, though Max did a good job of soiling himself before re-erecting his fragile barriers once Wardlow was subdued.

FTR were great, too. Demonstrating great body language in their backstage segment with MJF, who is a lot surer of the Pinnacle's solidity than Dax and Cash, they are organic middlemen between two warring parties they like and respect. Ultimately, this will end in them going full face and the stable falling to pieces.
