9 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (Sep 16)

7. The Struggle

Frankie Kazarian Hangman Page
AEW

Kenny Omega joined the commentary team for Hangman Page's match with Frankie Kazarian, stressing the need for him and his (former?) partner to get back on track on their own, having failed as a team at All Out. 'The Best Bout Machine' played a complementary role for what is likely the first stage in a feud that could grow to become a 2020 highlight by the time it's done.

The match was well-played. It felt like a true struggle, as it should have, with Page labouring to overcome a game Kazarian and himself. He was worked over on several occasions, with the SoCal Uncensored man pushing him closer and closer to defeat, forcing Hangman to empty the tank on the way to what was far from a routine victory.

Becoming increasingly attritional as the wrestlers worked through the gearbox, this was everything it should have been. A spent Page ended up taking the victory via Buckshot Lariat. He was dragged into the deep waters and looked exhausted by the end, selling the idea that for all his promise and all his ability, he's going to have to fight to get his career back on the right path.
