5. Progression For Roddy

AEW Collision Darius Martin Roderick Strong

There's only so many times we can see Roderick Strong scream "ADAAAAAAAM!" and be pushed around by the Kingdom, before that schtick gets tired. Thankfully, this week's Collision saw a nice smidge of progression for Roddy.

Namely, Roddy actually got to wrestle!

This match against Darius Martin was actually the first time Strong has wrestled for two months; since losing to Samoa Joe in the Grand Slam Eliminator Tournament. As part of what's been seen in recent months, it seems as if Roddy has to get a crack at MJF and the AEW World Title at some point in the future, and to do that, we have to first see the Master of the Backbreaker back in the ring and in singles action.

Darius Martin made for a fine opponent here, with Martin's place on the food chain meaning Roddy was able to pick up a relatively comprehensive win. Nigel McGuinness is also worthy a praise for how much he put Strong over as being so outright dangerous between the ropes.

Post-match, the attack on Darius by the Kingdom suggests we'll be getting Martin and Action Andretti against Messrs Bennett and Taven in the near-future. And much like Dalton Castle, Mike Bennett and Matt Taven are another couple of ROH alumni who've yet to be fully given a chance to show what they can do in an AEW ring.
