9 Ups & 2 Downs For AEW Collision (Nov 11 - Results & Review)

6. Fired-Up Hangman

It's been a strange old year for 'Hangman' Adam Page. From being a hugely popular AEW World Champion, Page has felt a little, well, lost in the shuffle across 2023 and parts of 2022, stuck in countless multi-man matches or doing daft 'choose a side' BS with the Young Bucks and the Dark Order.

That's not to say that Hangman hasn't been involved in some great matches this year, and one such bout was Page's excellent WrestleDream match against Swerve Strickland last month. While it was nice to see that rivalry rumble on, the Elite man's response to Strickland entering the Page household and terrorising Adam's child received a somewhat lukewarm, questionable response from Hanger initially.

Thankfully, the past week has seen Hangman show the fire and anger of a man whose child's safety was put at risk, and that was again continued in emphatic form with Page laying down the gauntlet for a Texas Death Match against Swerve at Full Gear next weekend.

Sure, Hangman's promo did veer a little too towards cheesy territory towards the end, as he essentially promised to murder Swerve and make sure Page's son gets to piss on the deceased Strickland's grave each and every November, but for the most part, it was great to see a Hangman Page character who actually seemed to give a sh*t.

Of course, one could question whether it's wise for AEW to run another Texas Death Match after Page faced Jon Moxley in one in March; after all, this is a match type that has been so scarcely used over the decades. As seen with other stipulations and match types, the more we see of something, the less special those once-unique and rare contests become.
