AEW has never had a problem delivering great shows in spite of bad builds, but that's neither the art of booking nor the job of the promoter. The clue's in the title - television should exist to promote pay-per-views (or whatever is required to make money at the end of all of this), and for all this match may have been built to on Ring Of Honor television, this wasn't a Ring Of Honor card and there's no need to had out free passes as paying customers.

All of that's to say that the action was decent and the run-time didn't stretch it beyond credibility, but Shane Taylor's failed attempt to wrestle the ROH Television Title away from Samoa Joe was one of two prominent victims of the company's lacklustre recent creative and fractured, unfocussed storytelling.

All of that's to say that there's more on 'The King Of Television' elsewhere in this article and Taylor didn't put a foot wrong, but with so little juice in the fruit, the only goal from the 6:25 allotted here should have been to make believers out of anybody that a title change was likely or that any of this really mattered. On this night, they couldn't elevate mid material. Speaking of which...
