9 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (23 August - Review)

3. The Heat Is On

Young Bucks August 23
AEW

Wrestlers are funny.

They are the most thin-skinned people alive, and yet to drive storylines forward they must ask one another if it's OK for them to rip the absolute piss out of each other's quirks. Dax Harwood likes three things in this life: his family, tequila, and this business.

Damn, I done forgot Bret Hart. DAMN!

I didn't mean that, Hitman! I'm sorry! I'll do tribute spots for the next four years, years which will secure my legacy!

To the man's credit, Dax sent himself up here, in another very good sit-down interview, allowing Matt Jackson to mimic his voice ("MAH LEGACY!") and ask him how exactly he is able to feed his daughter and build his legacy. Dax is able to do that because of the Bucks. FTR meanwhile will only be remembered as the team that the Young Bucks named. This was tremendous (after a very low-key and almost boring start that enabled a convincing, naturalistic feel to creep in).

The Young Bucks finally feel like they give half a damn about something other than their own lore, and while this won't be the last chapter, both teams did a great job of making the third match feel final, conclusive and important.
