9 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite: Winter Is Coming (Dec 2)

2. See You Next Tuesday!

Don Callis Alex Marvez
AEW

Even if you dislike the Don Callis/Impact Wrestling deal and would have preferred Jon Moxley vs. Kenny Omega to finish on a truly clean finish, the effectiveness with which AEW built to this must be acknowledged.

Callis first appeared for AEW at Full Gear 2020, where his existing relationship with Omega was the connective tissue. A great commentator in his own right, he entered a strong, cordial performance, putting 'The Cleaner' over huge while staying professional throughout. In kayfabe, this earned him an invitation to return last night.

The Impact Executive Vice President repaid Tony Khan's trust by f*cking him over. Not only did he screw Jon Moxley out of the World Title in Khan's clean finish promotion, but he has drawn 'The Cleaner' to Impact. Whatever form this takes, whether it is a full-on invasion or something smaller, Callis is taking the jewel in AEW's crown to a rival network.

That's great stuff - and AEW vs. Impact opens the door for all kinds of mouthwatering matches. Between this and the AEW/NWA relationship, it feels like the wider wrestling world is coming back together beneath its biggest promotion.
