9 Ups & 2 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (23 Sep)
Downs...
2. Oh, This Is A Thing Again
Long-term readers of this column will be aware that the Desi Hit Squad were rarely treated with respect by IMPACT's booking team. Often made to look like complete fools at all times, the DHS was never going to get over.
Now, for seemingly no reason other than Shera being out with an injury, they've reunited, with a returning Raj Singh emerging during Rohit Raju's bout with Chelsea Green. He sent Matt Cardona careening into the ring post, though a different camera angle would have benefitted the segment; Cardona's head visibly missed the ring post by a clear mile. Rohit rolled up Chelsea, who made no effort to escape the hold.
The match itself was dull. Beginning as a basic intergender match in that the male overpowered the female for a chunk of time, neither competitor managed to get over. Chelsea had a nice Superkick at one stage, but both her Canadian Destroyer and I'm Prettier attempts were thwarted. Rohit, meanwhile, wrestled like it was his first match, failing to perform anything of note.
There's no benefit to this story continuing past Victory Road. Cardona pinned Raju after Chelsea had gotten her revenge over him. She doesn't need to then face the 'Desi Hitman'. A dire story all around.
