9 Ups & 2 Downs From NXT TakeOver: In Your House

Ups...

9. That Retro Intro

Todd Pettengill NXT
WWE
“NXT, for over five and a half years, the revolutionary force in sports entertainment”.

What an intro line that was. It instantly fostered feelings of nostalgia for ye olde WWF programming, and that was furthered by the presence of the one, the only Todd Pettengill. The 'Toddster' looked like he hadn't lost a step. His cheesy banter worked, and the guy could probs still do a job for WWE today.

They should seriously think about bringing him back - Pettengill was flawless here, and he'd fit in nicely as a backstage interviewer on Raw, SmackDown or NXT in 2020. His joke about giving away a house (something the company did on the very first In Your House show back in 1995) was a nice touch too.

The whole intro was just nostalgia overload. Better yet, it was totally inoffensive for any younger viewers who might not have grasped what WWE were going for with the retro flavour. It's not like they went too far with it. Code Orange still provided that modern metal atmosphere.
