9 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Collision (July 8)

7. A Step In The Right Direction

AEW Collision QT Marshall Powerhouse Hobbs
AEW

One of your writer's major complaints about last week's AEW Collision, was how the Powerhouse Hobbs and QTV relationship simply wasn't working. Thankfully, it looks like we've seen the end - or at least the start of the end - of this relationship.

Hobbs is an extremely talented fella with a huge upside and plentiful potential to become a genuine top tier player for AEW. Rather than adding to the overall act and presentation of Powerhouse, his alignment with QT Marshall had the complete opposite effect.

By associating with QT and his goons, all that did was make Hobbs feel lesser than what he was previously. Marshall was dragging Big Will down and making him feel like just another no-name member of what is essentially AEW's iteration of the J.O.B. Squad.

Hobbs shoving QT to the mat post-match and then hitting a spinebuster on Aaron Solo, that felt like a huge step in a more positive direction for Powerhouse. Seemingly turning babyface as a result of this, Hobbs will likely have to spend the next little while tangling with QTV, but long-term this has hopefully helped get the 32-year-old back on track as a singles act with so much promise.
