9 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Apr 15)

7. Squash Spears

Few things are more satisfying than a well-executed squash match, and Shawn Spears vs. Justin Law was most certainly that.

AEW's 'Chairman' got cocky early on, inviting his overmatched opponent to cradle him, prompting an unexpected near-fall that flipped a switch in Spears. The former Tye Dillinger was all business from there. His work became super starchy as he levelled up, battering Law with a Clothesline that hit like a truck, eventually leading to the running Death Valley Driver for the win.

Over in about two minutes, this was a good way for Spears to rebound from last week's Cody loss and add another W to his résumé. He looked great here. It's nice to see him of his personality coming through in his work, too: the po-faced grouch he played during and after the Cody feud did little for him.
