9 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Apr 22)
7. Brodie Lee's Upswing Continues
Removing the overt, in-your-face Vince McMahon stuff from Brodie Lee's promos has made 'The Exalted One' a lot more enjoyable. There is still shades of the WWE Chairman in the former Luke Harper but he isn't chastising people for sneezing anymore. A good move; let's hope it continues.
Last night's vignette saw a new Dark Order recruit come to Mr. Brodie after falling on hard times, leading to a twisted cult leader speech from Lee and the recruitment of one Preston Vance into The Dark Order. This fella teamed with Shawn Spears on a recent episode of Dark. At 6'2" and 240lbs, he certainly has the physical tools - let's see if he finds more traction than Alex Reynolds and John Silver have in the Order.
Another effective Brodie squash followed. He destroyed Justin Law with bruising, hard-hitting offense, eventually putting him out of his misery with the Discus Clothesline. Everything he does between the ropes looks sharp and snappy right now and up next is Marko Stunt ("Marko Runt more like!", cry the witless), who'll bump like crazy for Brodie, as he did against Lance Archer.
