9 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Apr 22)

6. Take To The Sky

Scorpio Sky
AEW

Wrestlers based in California were told to stay away from AEW's latest set of Dynamite tapings, hence the lack of SoCal Uncensored on these shows. It was refreshing, then, to hear from Scorpio Sky last night, whose All Elite run was recontextualised via a vignette telling the story of his journey through pro wrestling.

Sky claimed he'd been a fan for as long as he can remember. While childhood friends wanted to be policemen or firemen, to become a wrestler was all he ever dreamed of, but everything almost fell apart in 2009. Major back problems arose. Scorp was told that the space between two discs had collapsed and that he'd need surgery or pain management. Either way, his wrestling days were likely numbered.

One day, however, Sky woke up, the pain was gone, and he decided to give wrestling one last chance - leading to the formation of SoCal Uncensored in December 2017. To be continued.

A valuable character piece here, the kind almost anybody on the roster could benefit from. It'd be good to see AEW give other wrestlers the same treatment after Sky's second part airs.
