9 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (Sept 26)
8. Lashley True To Self
You know how you can tell that the writing on Raw has vastly improved? When a backstage segment between two superstars feels real and true to their characters and even has little development for the supporting member.
Matt Riddle was backstage watching Seth Rollins lay out Rey Mysterio and seething at the TV when Bobby Lashley came up to wish him luck in his upcoming match against Damian Priest. He also told his fellow former MMA fighter to show Rollins what it’s like to be in a cage with a trained fighter.
But then, Lashley showed his honorable – yet vicious side – warning Riddle to never interrupt his matches again like he did last week, regardless of his intentions. That little bit revealed Lashley as understanding why Riddle did what he did, but also that he doesn’t want anyone interjecting themselves into his matches, even if they’re trying to help.
Even without an active feud or a match on the card, Lashley got a bit of character development while chatting for 30 seconds backstage.
