9 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (Sept 26)

7. Riddle Survives

Damian Priest Matt Riddle

You’ve got to give it up to Matt Riddle, who has managed to reinvent himself from a goofy stoner sidekick to Randy Orton to a semi-serious main-eventer who looks like a threat for just about any title.

Riddle defeated Damian Priest Monday night, overcoming the presence of the Judgment Day and a very game Punisher. The two former friends countered each other’s signature spots several times and kicked out of some of their more impactful offense, but Riddle caught Priest for the surprise pin.

Of course, a pinfall won’t help the Original Bro in the fight pit against Seth Rollins next month, but Riddle already has the credentials for that MMA-inspired match. This was about maintaining momentum, which he did.
