9 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Collision (July 1)

AEW Collision House of Black Andrade El Idolo
AEW

As part of the brewing rivalry between Andrade El Idolo and the House of Black, we've seen two utter bangers as Andrade has taken on Buddy Matthews and Brody King in singles action. While the in-ring component of this feud has been great, the out-of-ring element is still failing to strike a chord.

Last week, it felt plain stupid that El Idolo released a Figure 8 on Brody due to Julia Hart picking up Andrade's mask. Here, the mask mess was doubled-down on during a backstage promo.

In the worst possible way, this week's Andrade/House of Black segment felt like something pulled straight from WWE Raw.

We had Andrade screaming about wanting his mask back - which, given the tradition of lucha libre, is understandable - but then spooky sh*t happened where the House of Black appeared on a TV screen. The end result was all a bit naff and did little to entice you to see more from the feud.

Yes, Andrade's eventual match against Malakai Black should be a scorcher, and yes, any match between La Faccion Ingobernable and the House of Black should likewise be a beauty, but the non-wrestling part of this rivalry feels way too corny right now.
