9 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dark (Sep 2)

5. Abadon vs. Dani Jordan

Recent weeks have seen Abadon's short squash matches rendered ineffective by needless parity and the opposition's failure to sell her supernatural gimmick. Last night, fortunately, was a step in the right direction.

Dani Jordan attacked early and with bravado, though she paid for it. Abadon was completely dominant after swatting her opponent down. Though perhaps a minute too long, the layout had Abadon in control or Jordan for the vast majority of its runtime, with AEW's character wearing Jordan's knee down not through precise submission work, but by literally punching it while trapped in a rudimentary leglock. Unorthodox stuff, with Dani forced to relent in the end.

While the match took a while to get to where it needed to go, it got there in the end. This was a lot more successful than other Abadon victories.
