9 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (2 Feb)
1. A Desi Reunion
Despite being non-title, TJP vs. Rohit Raju was an exceptionally good match. Raju continues to impress within the ring, while TJP can always be relied upon to produce something decent in-ring-wise.
The main story here was 'The Desi Hitman' constantly trying to one-up the champion. Between dropkicking TJP while he was doing his spider dodge in the ropes and rolling out of the way to avoid a Mamba Splash, he was constantly a step ahead of the Cruiserweight Classic winner. Even when it came to his technical work, wearing down TJP's arm, Rohit did some great work here.
Just when it looked like TJP had gotten the edge against Raju by doing his sneak under the ring trick, he was instead chokeslammed on the apron by a returning Mahabali Shera. Rohit's absolutely gorgeous knee strike marked a win, guaranteeing him a shot at TJP's title next weekend at No Surrender.
Your writer voluntarily holds his hands up; it was written last week that a Shera return would have been the worst possible outcome of the mystery man Rohit was speaking to angle. Instead, it looks as if we'll be going down a different route compared to what it was last time. Mahabali will merely be watching the back of Rohit, as opposed to the focus always being on the big man like it was in The Desi Hit Squad.
As long as Gama Singh keeps his nose out, this will work.
