9 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (2 Feb)
2. Turning The Tables
Fire N Flava vs. Havok and Nevaeh is the only feasible story you can create out of the Knockouts Tag Team Championships at the moment, and so it makes perfect sense to continue this story a while longer. Havok took on Tasha Steelz of the championship team last night, a match that was fairly decent, too.
Things here made sense. Steelz worked the leg of the much larger Havok. The former Knockouts Champion, meanwhile, rag-dolled 'The Boricua Badass' around the ring like it was nothing. Tasha was forced to rely on her quick striking ability to wear down her superior adversary, a barrage of superkicks meaning very little in this instance.
The match's conclusion also made perfect sense if you've been following the story. Kiera Hogan inadvertently caught the attention of referee Brandon Tolle while screaming at Havok, opening the door for Nevaeh to sneakily trip up Steelz, leading to Havok's tombstone piledriver victory.
Havok and Nevaeh got one over on the reigning champions, rather than Fire N Flava always getting the better of the experienced tandem. Granted, Havok and Nevaeh did also pull one over Steelz and Hogan during last week's Fire N Flava Fest, but this one happened within the confines of a match. They now have a genuine reason to continue chasing Kiera and Tasha without things becoming too tiresome. Great booking here.
