9 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (2 Feb)
6. Myers Isn't Alone
Hernandez being used as Brian Myers' hired gun is unquestionably going to help both men going forward. Myers' Impact career is in need of that first big moment rather than a random win over a TJP or a Fallah Bahh, while Hernandez is one of those veteran Impact talents who can be placed anywhere to help whoever he needs to.
Proclaiming he couldn't battle Eddie Edwards at No Surrender due to his eye injury, 'The Most Professional Wrestler' found himself ambushed by the former two-time World Champion, only to be saved by 'Supermex', who hadn't been seen since Final Resolution. Matt Cardona made the save for Eddie here, but a statement has been made regardless. Myers and Hernandez are united.
Sure, having the new alliance standing tall over Eddie would have made for a far more impactful visual as opposed to Cardona getting involved, but your writer would argue that what they did do was enough in itself. Myers desperately needed something other than his random winning streak: the pairing with Hernandez in a hired gun role is that thing that he needs. This has potential if Impact wishes to do something proper with it.
