9 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (5 Jan)

6. Khan Goes Off

In their latest paid advertisement, AEW's Tony Khan and Tony Schiavone did what they always do; berate Impact Wrestling, and run down the card for tonight's edition of Dynamite. It's a solid card, but what made this ad stand out from the previous instalments was how irked Khan appeared to be towards Don Callis.

Callis claims to have had a helping hand in putting the pieces in the right place to allow All Elite Wrestling to even exist. Of course, Tony saw things just a tad differently. The AEW head honcho stated how he provided the resources and established relationships that resulted in AEW getting off the ground as quickly as it did. In fact, the only thing Khan can't do for AEW is the in-ring aspect of it.

This was great.

AEW don't need to have an on-air authority figure as it's one of pro wrestling's most contrived concepts, but these paid ads allow both he and Tony Schiavone to showcase their personalities outwith AEW's regular programming. Khan has shown he can be a decent authority figure if AEW ever do go down that route. He's one cocky little b*stard.
