9 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Feb 25)
5. One More Match
The best of five series rolled on as Eddie Edwards defeated Michael Elgin to tie the score at two wins apiece. Therefore, the fifth and final match of the series will be required to determine Tessa Blanchard's World Championship challenger for Rebellion on 19 April.
Overall, this was perhaps the worst of the matches in the series thus far, but that doesn't necessarily mean it was a bad match by any stretch of the imagination. It just wasn't as good as any of the ones that came before it. Edwards and Elgin still went balls to the wall to earn the championship contest, as was proven when 'Big Mike' started busting out Stan Hansen-esque lariats to the jaw of the former American Wolf.
As has become customary, there were a few repeated spots from previous bouts, with the German suplexes and the blue thunder bombs that we've become well acquainted with over the last weeks. However, the pair were still able to keep things feeling fresh, with Eddie even attempting a moonsault off the top rope at one point in the match. The ending was also made effective, as Edwards went for a few rollups, eventually finding the right one to keep Elgin down for the count of three.
Once again, Eddie Edwards and Michael Elgin were able to craft something truly spectacular together. As mentioned already, it wasn't quite as good as the matches within the series that came before it, but that takes nothing away from its quality at all.
