9 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Feb 25)

1. History Times Two

Tessa Blanchard made history not once, but twice on this particular edition of Impact Wrestling. Firstly, she became the first woman to challenge for the X Division Championship one on one, and secondly, she's now set to defend the World Championship against Taya Valkyrie (although technically speaking, this was only confirmed after the episode had gone off the air). That will mark the first time the main title within Impact Wrestling will be contested for between two women.

Her match with defending X Division Champion Ace Austin was, as expected, a banger. 'The Undeniable One' was like a house on fire here, coming at 'The One True Ace' all guns blazing with a barrage of kicks. Austin of course had some tricks up his sleeve to counter some of Tessa's more common moves, but nothing was seemingly going to stop Tessa from becoming a double champion.

That's when Taya Valkyrie hit the ring, more or less spearing Tessa out of her boots. Why she doesn't use the spear as a main move is beyond this writer's mind - she delivered it with such force here. It wasn't over there though, as 'Wera Loca' absolutely destroyed the woman she originally beat to begin her record-breaking reign with the Knockouts Championship.

This is the Taya Valkyrie we've been needing to see for quite some time now. She was made to look like a coward for the most part in her run as champ as she consistently used cheap tactics to keep the title around her waist. Now that she's lost the strap, it's like a beast has been unleashed inside of her. The best part? John E. Bravo was nowhere to be seen. Keep it that way if it means this is the Taya Valkyrie we get to see.
