9 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Sep 22)

18 July, 2020. The day Eric Young made his return to Impact Wrestling. In the two months that have followed, the current World Champion has been utilised to perfection.

Following on from his intense promo earlier in the night's proceedings, 'The World Class Maniac' blindsided both Cody Deaner and Cousin Jake on their way to the ring, laying both men out with a piledriver, before focusing on their ankles. He's focusing his attack on the same limb he put Eddie Edwards and Rich Swann out with, which is a focal point to EY's current persona in Impact. He's tactical in the way he goes about his in-ring movements. Young finds a weakness in an opponent, and closes in on it.

Not only that, but Eric also looked directly down the hard camera as he insisted the blood was on Scott D'Amore's hands, repeating a point from earlier in the evening. Upon entering the ring, Impact's executive vice president found himself being manhandled by the champion of his company, ultimately being saved by a returning Eddie Edwards.

Everything about this segment was perfect. The Deaners aren't doing anything just now, so using them as the innocent victims here was acceptable, while Eric Young continued to prove his worth within Impact. The ongoing issues between he and D'Amore add a whole lot of depth to the story if you're aware of their history in Team Canada, while the return of Eddie adds a bit of intrigue as it pertains to Bound For Glory. All in all, nothing to complain about.

How anyone can misuse Eric Young in their promotion is a mystery.
