Promo of the night honours on NXT were sewn up in the first segment as Tommaso Ciampa tore through The OC's bravado in an overdue levelling of the black-and-gold brand's status in the WWE Universe at large.
Noting the countless times he's been asked about moving up to the main roster, he shot the question clean out of the sky by noting that the very surface upon which they stood was the main roster. This turned the "Daddy's Home" chant he was receiving up even louder, and left the invading heels incredulous as Ciampa revealed his current WarGames team and dished out a challenge for the evening's main event.
Sports Entertainment done well with elegant pro wrestling writing to boot, this was a box ticker of the highest order that fed the increasing buzz around both NXT and this current Survivor Series angle.
