9 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Mar 25)

1. Omega & Guevara Dazzle In Title Tilt

Sammy Guevara Kenny Omega
AEW

Comfortably the best thing on Dynamite was this dazzler pitting Kenny Omega against Sammy Guevara, with the AAA Mega Championship on the line.

You'd ideally want a match with this much athletic potential to go down before a proper hot crowd. Guevara and Omega adapted to that, opting for a slower, more methodical bout as 'The Spanish God' went to work on Kenny's injured hand. This meant relentlessly targeting the broken wing with stomps, holds, and the odd bite here and there, and Sammy got vicious with it, smashing the hand into the ring post at one point.

Guevara's character shone through as he tongued the picture of Brandi he'd sat at ringside and promised to "tear it up" later on. As Cody suppressed his rage on commentary, his Elite stablemate fought back through signature cloudbursts of offense, coming to life through a late lucha-style exchange and ultimately felling Guevara with the V-Trigger and One-Winged Angel.

A great TV match in any setting, this thing ruled. Guevara continues to be one of AEW's shining lights. Everything he does is tremendous and it's only a matter of time before he's realistically able to beat Omega in matches like this.
