9 Ups And 0 Downs From Last Night's NXT (27 May)

1. Roast Teeth And Mustard

This. F**king. Ruled.

I said last week that the story here is pitifully weak, the feud almost comically rushed, the potential in the rivalry almost entirely squandered, but the match would probably still deliver regardless. While it's nice to be right, I can't pretend for one second that I thought it would be this good. There's a genuine possibility that this is the best match the show has seen this year.

A cage match, with Kurt Angle officiating, that was pretty much just a shoot fight from the bell, as a television main event!! NXT, for all its faults of late, still rewards you for just trusting the process. The reward, in this case, was a match unlike anything we've seen in WWE before, and it's not often you can say that without doing a sly wink to camera.

Then there's the teeth. THE F***ING TEETH! Matt Riddle caught Thatcher with a flying knee and seconds later he was spitting up blood AND F***ING TEETH! IN A TV MAIN-EVENT! TEETH!!!

Now it might well emerge that this was a work, and it's a blood packet, and not real teeth but, even if that's the case, it still worked me to within an inch of my life. Which, if anything, is even more impressive. Thatcher getting the win means that we're set for a blowoff here, most likely at In Your House, and the stakes will need to be raised again. Sign me up.
