9 Ups And 10 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (May 6 )
9. Roman As Fans’ Avatar
Before we start, this isn’t a knock against Roman Reigns at all.
Flash back to December, when ratings hit then-all-time lows. The McMahon family came out to claim responsibility (sort of) for the poor showing, which came after Seth Rollins trashed the show (and then-GM Baron Corbin) and many of the bad booking decisions they were making.
The McMahons promised change, which we got… for about three weeks.
Fast-forward to Monday night, and Reigns was out there in the Seth Rollins role, pointing out the McMahons’ failings, that Vince and his “spoiled children” were running things after promising no more “authority” holding people down.
And this is why this is a “down:” No one is buying it this time. We were fooled once before when Rollins trashed the product and the McMahons broke the fourth wall to promise a better product – and then we did… for all of three weeks. Does anyone actually believe that the Wild Card Rule is going to shake things up and make it all better? NO.
It was a nice sentiment to have Roman try to talk about taking orders from the fans, but we all know Vince is gonna do what Vince is gonna do. A cantankerous 73-year-old man isn’t going to suddenly make bold changes to his product. (Prove us wrong, Vince.)
