9 Ups And 3 Downs From WWE NXT Takeover: Brooklyn

3. Apollo Gets Star-Struck

NXT Takeover: Brooklyn took place in front of the largest crowd the developmental territory has performed before, nearly 16,000 people. That, and the fact it was his first NXT match made it doubly cool when Apollo Crews took a couple moments to take in the crowd at the Barclay Center Saturday night. Crews stopped on the ramp, put his hand over his eyes and scanned the crowd and said loud enough for the mics to pick up, €œThat€™s a lot of people!€ He then flipped a switch and stalked to the ring, and proceeded to deliver an impressive debut, defeating Tye Dillinger in a match in which the result was never in doubt. Crews certainly looks like he can be a major star for WWE in the future. He has a carved-out-of-granite physique, impressive strength and even more impressive agility. His gorilla press drop/standing moonsault combo finisher showed off both of those traits perfectly. It€™s exactly the kind of debut you€™d want from a highly touted performer.
