9 Ups And 4 Downs From WWE Raw (May 11)

Ups...

9. Crowning A New Champ After The Fact

There are a couple ways to look at WWE reverse-engineering its women’s Money in the Bank briefcase into a Raw Women’s Championship-holder.

One way is to consider it a brilliant way to write off Becky Lynch and still have continuity of a new champ rather than a tournament. Another way to view it is that we were robbed of a tournament for the vacant title, which would have been an interesting way to give everyone screen time and an opportunity.

Besides all that, you had three SmackDown wrestlers vying for the MITB briefcase. What if one of them had won? Would they then have jumped brands, or would the title itself have jumped over to SmackDown?

Yes, the visual of Becky informing Asuka she was the Raw women’s champ as she announced her own pregnancy was an amazing moment (more on that later), but is this even logical?

You know what? For once, we’re going to brush logic aside. Yes, we know it doesn’t make a ton of sense, that you can poke holes through the storyline. But the segment as it played out was pretty damn powerful, so for once, we’re gonna let it slide.

It’s barely an “up” here, but we’ll put it here nonetheless.
