9 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Night Of Champions 2015

Downs...

6. KO By Rollup?

WWE made the right decision to have Kevin Owens win his first WWE title, the Intercontinental Championship, Sunday night. And it€™s understandable that they didn€™t want to make champ Ryback look weak or get obliterated. But having Owens win by raking the eyes and getting a rollup victory? It would€™ve been far better to have Ryback eat a Pop-Up Powerbomb for the 1-2-3 than a thumb to the eye and a tug of the tights. This WWE €œlogic€ that a rollup is a more acceptable loss than being beaten by a powerful finishing move is mind-boggling. No one wins in this scenario. Ryback looks like a chump, and Owens looks like he stole a pin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wd8urMGE_Y They could have simply had the same finishing sequence, with Owens raking the eyes to escape Shellshocked, then shove Ryback into the ropes and hit the Pop-Up Powerbomb for the pin. It would€™ve had the same result with more impact (literally and figuratively). Still, congrats to the new champ.
