After taking a swipe at WWE for its guest ring announcer sounding like every other announcer, we have to tip our caps briefly to the entrance area and aisle that they employed for SummerSlam.

So many stadium PPVs still utilize the same giant entrance stage and ramp that we see on Raw and SmackDown, sometimes on a larger scale. So seeing Saturday’s more muted entryway – an LED board at the door and a bar of lights across the bottom of the bowl – looked really cool. Of course, it’s more likely that they used that setup so they could jam more fans into the stadium, but still, let’s give them credit for not falling back on the same old, same old.

If only WWE would do this more often with its PPVs and give them more of a unique feel.
