9 Ups And 8 Downs From WWE Money In The Bank 2020

2. Just Filling Time

It would be easy to criticize WWE for putting Tamina in a SmackDown Women’s Championship match, as if anyone has ever been invested in her as a character.

But having Tamina as the challenger of the month for Bayley is fine in this situation – not every title feud can be a barnburner. It’s just that the match wasn’t very good at all. Tamina already is fairly immobile in the ring, and then add Bayley attacking her knee to make her even more stationary and you’ve got a really slow, plodding match.

The climax (as it were) came when Tamina hit the dreaded Samoan Drop, only for Sasha Banks to attempt to interfere, leading to a chase. Bayley attempted to jump Tamina, who hoisted her up for a second Samoan Drop, only for Bayley to get a crucifix pin for the victory. And then the heels attacked and dropped Tamina after the bell.

Nothing about the result is negative, but the match itself was just several minutes of PPV that was basically a waste.
