9 Ups And 9 Downs From WWE SummerSlam 2018

3. An ‘Epic’ Main Event

On one hand, it’s safe to say that fans didn’t care to see another lengthy WWE Universal Championship match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns that played out more like a video game than a real wrestling match.

But still, the main event of one of the company’s main PPVs of the year was largely a joke, with the offense consisting entirely of three Superman punches, three German suplexes, two guillotines (and two slams to escape) and four spears. Any other offense was waged on Brawn Strowman (more on that later).

And just like that, the epic three-year feud between Brock and Roman is seemingly over, as is Lesnar’s mind-numbing 504-day reign. The match was awful, with fans appropriately chanting, “You both suck!” at them. But hey, we got that great sit-down interview with Paul Heyman that ultimately meant absolutely nothing, so there you go.
