While the WWE hasn't increased the number of talents they showcase in the three hour long RAWs, they certainly have increased the number of replays shown throughout the program. Replays have long been used on RAW to setup the segments and characters they are about to present. Whether they were called RAW Rewind, Slam of the Week, or something else, they were usually coupled with a sponsor such as 90s greats 1-800-COLLECT, JVC Kaboom Box, Skittles, Western Union or Starburst, but the idea of replays is nothing new. What is new, since the expansion of RAW, is the amount shown and the frequency with which they occur. For the viewers at home, nothing kills a show's momentum faster for than an ill-timed commercial or a long replay of what they just saw. When something is hot and working, you want to keep it moving, keep it going, and RAW seems to follow-up any mildly interesting segment with a mind-numbing replay. Recaps and replays are acceptable, just not as often as the WWE currently uses them on RAW. They also reiterate to the viewers (especially those that may have missed the segment live) that theres no reason to tune in for the whole show next time, since WWE will constantly replay all the important segments. More often than not, the loyal viewers are insulted and frustrated since they have just seen the action being replayed. Unlike other successful television programs like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, or The Walking Dead, the WWE seems to have a knack for punishing its loyal audience and rewarding its non-loyal viewers. Remove the poorly-paced recaps/instant replays from RAW and give that time to a wider range of talents. Or use it instead on a Survivor Series (or Upcoming PPV) Report (remember those?).
