9 Ways Impact Wrestling Can Successfully Rebrand

8. Change The Name

Many critics have come out and said that the name of the company is irrelevant - it is the product that matters. That is undoubtedly true and it is going to take a long time for this promotion to remove the stink of TNA from its surroundings. I would disagree that the name is irrelevant however.

You can’t rebrand without a new brand, however superfluous such a statement may be. If Impact moves forward as Global Force Wrestling, TNA, or Impact, it is quite obviously moving forward with the same baggage it has always had. The initial decision to change to GFW was perplexing for this reason, as the Global Force name already came with failure attached.

A fresh start must mean a fresh start, and this includes a brand new name. Whether that is simply Anthem Wrestling or something entirely different is up to the decision makers, but GFW/TNA/Impact must be off the table.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
