9 Ways To Introduce Shinsuke Nakamura To WWE Roster

2. An "Evil Foreign Heel" Gimmick

This entry is by no means a suggestion for how to go about bringing Nakamura onto the main roster; it's a painful admission of the reality of what happens to most foreign wrestlers when they're brought into WWE. Vince McMahon has "a type", and he's never seemed to see international talent as anything more than caricatures.

An amazingly talented worker such as Taka Michinoku was forced to adopt the "misdubbed kung fu movie voiceover" gimmick, Kenzo Suzuki was named after a warlord and given a geisha girl as a valet, etc. etc.

If that becomes Nakamura's fate, it will be a travesty. He might not become a surefire superstar in the WWE, but he definitely deserves the opportunity to be more than a walking stereotype.

These terrible ideas include, but are not limited to: anti-Americanism, any form of xenophobia or politics in general, stereotypical Asian costumes and most of all mist-spitting. Not that it isn't a cool visual, but not every Japanese wrestler needs to spit mist into the face of their opponent to be a credible threat.

Is his wrestling ability and weird charisma enough to get him over? Maybe, maybe not.

But one thing's for certain: the above-mentioned traits are a death sentence for any potential success.
