9 Ways Today's WWE Is Just Like The Attitude Era

8. Smackdown Will Be Relevant Again (Maybe?)

In the Attitude Era, specifically from 1999 to 2001, Smackdown was just as important as Raw. If you only watched Raw and not Smackdown, you would have missed some key plot points. Especially early on in Smackdown's tenure, there would be World Title matches (and even World Title changes), and other major storyline turns that are integral to the main story of the WWF. Since the Brand Extension officially ended in 2013, Smackdown has been absolutely skippable. The last major event that took place on Smackdown was Alberto Del Rio winning the World Heavyweight Championship three years ago this month. Otherwise, other than some good wrestling matches, there isn't anything worth tuning in for. If you only watch Raw, you aren't missing anything. Now that Smackdown has moved to USA Network, rumors are that there will be some integral storylines to the main story on Smackdown. If that's the case, Smackdown will be relevant for the first time in years, just like the Attitude Era.
