Granted, WrestleMania VI, the scene of Hulk Hogan's mega showdown with Ultimate Warrior, wasn't exactly the opportune time for Mr. Perfect to at last become a main event player.

It was understandable that the Hulkster would sooner work with Warrior - and so too was it understandable that the company, looking for the biggest possible draw for its flagship event, decided to put Hennig on the undercard.

The problem was Hogan's (apparent) steadfast refusal to put over Mr. Perfect at all, fearing that he wasn't big enough to be a legitimate contender to his WWE Title throne.

This was despite the fact that Hennig made it to the last two of the Royal Rumble in 1990, where he was eliminated by the Hulkster - seemingly to set up a blow-off encounter down the line.
