9 Wrestling Moves Sami Zayn Doesn’t Do Anymore

1. Blue Thunderbomb

In the Twitter thread, Mith Gifs Wrestling makes an extremely salient point; nobody believes in anything as strongly as Sami Zayn believes in the Blue Thunderbomb. This twirling powerbomb has been top of most ‘should be a finishing move’ lists for years, but it rarely brought Zayn victory. Not that he let on, and his face was always a picture of excitement and expectation after he planted opponents with the move.

This was all true even up to his return from injury in April 2019, when Zayn challenged Finn Balor for the Intercontinental Championship that he now holds. All of Sami’s flashy moves had been stripped away, but the Blue Thunderbomb remained. He hit Balor with the move and the look on his face was as convinced as ever. Of course, Balor kicked out, but there was hope in this lost star.

That hope has gone. The move was last seen on SmackDown in the summer of 2019, in a tag team match (with Kevin Owens) against New Day. It isn’t out of the question that the Blue Thunderbomb will return sooner rather than later, but such hope is dependent on Zayn regaining the confidence and belief that has been sucked out of his character over the past few years.

Sami Zayn, professional wrestling misses you.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
