9 Wrestling Moves Sami Zayn Doesn’t Do Anymore

2. Suicide Dive Tornado DDT

One of the all-time great moves, this was Sami Zayn’s signature before he made it to the WWE. Sure, that insane top rope brainbuster was really the signature, but nobody expected a move of such violence to be allowed in WWE. Before Zayn made his debut on NXT TV, fans quietly hoped that he was going to be able to bring the suicide dive tornado DDT with him.

And he did. The wrestling world was overjoyed, and it was a treat to see this incredible move on television. After whipping the crowd into a frenzy, Zayn would throw himself through the corner ropes, catching his unsuspecting opponent and driving their head into the mats with a tornado DDT. A completely unique, beautiful thing of wonder.

The move became rarer and rarer as Zayn’s injuries piled up, and it hasn’t been seen at all since February 2018, when Kevin Owens (who else?) felt the brunt of it on an episode of SmackDown. When Zayn eventually turns face (fingers crossed), this will be the move that gets the biggest pop.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
