9 Wrestling Moves That Could Legit Kill You
2. Last Ride
Right, we've pretty well established that slamming people down from a great height is very much a bad idea, but in this case, this move has legitimately killed someone.
In 2015, a 20-year-old man was arrested for the death of a toddler after performing this move on him, causing severe head injuries.
In WWE, these guys are careful to take the impact on their shoulders, but do this to an unsuspecting normal member of the human race and their head will snap back on impact, smacking the back of the skull against the ground. Considering they're falling from somewhere in the region of ten feet, this is going to be gnarly.
A basilar skull fracture (fracture to the back of the skull) can crush the hole in the skull where the spinal cord exits, which is, as you can imagine, no fun at all.
Damage to this bit of the head carries a risk of spinal and neurological damage and serious cases often result in death. Damage to the fragile temporal bone can even cause the bone to shear off and cut through the carotid artery, causing massive internal bleeding. Just don't do it, kids.
