9 Wrestling Personalities Killed Off In Mainstream Wrestling Storylines

8. Swagger Soaring Eagle

In what amounted to the second most ridiculous WWE storyline to ever involve a bird (don't worry, Gobbledy Gooker, your crown is still safe), Jack Swagger randomly started being accompanied to the ring by a giant eagle mascot, appropriately named the Swagger Soaring Eagle.

It was a goofy concept, no doubt, but that was the point. And the addition of such an pridefully stupid mascot actually made Swagger pop and stand out from the rest of the roster. During his (thankfully) brief time alongside Swagger, the Eagle took heaping spoonfuls of embarrassing bumps, including a crushing spear from Edge. But he just kept on taking those cartoonish poundings, because WWE's creative team didn't have any better ideas.

At the apex of the Soaring Eagle's ridiculousness, he feuded with Hornswoggle. They even had a genuine, sanctioned match on Smackdown. Because...of course.

To end the feud -- and to put the poor Eagle out of its misery -- Hornswoggle shot and killed the bird with a bow and arrow, and presumably ate him for Thanksgiving dinner. He probably tasted like fabric and sadness.

Oh, and as a fun side note, the man inside the bird costume was none other than Chavo Guerrero, the nephew of Hector Guerrero. Who played the Gobbledy Gooker.
