9 Wrestling Personalities Killed Off In Mainstream Wrestling Storylines

6. Big Boss Man

While this was never officially considered a storyline death -- the wording used to describe the event was vague and Boss Man was back on television the next week without another word-- the simple fact is that a man was hanged from a steel cage until his body went limp. On WWE television.

That happened.

In his Ministry of Darkness days, The Undertaker was a deeply disturbing figure whose favorite past time was "sacrificing" his opposition, usually by way of crucifixion.

But during his faction's feud with Vince McMahon's Corporation stable, things got taken to even crazier heights. Following a Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania XV in which Boss Man lost to Taker, the Dead Man sicked his goons, The Brood, onto his defeated opponent. They passed a noose through a hole in the cage ceiling, Undertaker tightened the noose around Boss Man's neck, and then lifted him off the ground.

In terms of sheer gruesomeness, this is one of the most sickening things ever shown in a storyline. Sure, the movie magic aspects of the hanging were apparent, as it was clear the noose was supported by a safety harness attached to his vest. But even if you knew it wasn't real, there was probably a part of you that was affected by it.
