9 WWE Gimmicks That Are Totally DEAD

7. Xia Li The “Great Protector”

Viking Raiders
WWE

Behold another one in Main Event purgatory.

WWE has chucked it with Xia generally, it seems. She’s another who has started frequenting 'C' level programming with alarming regularity, and her old “Great Protector” idea has been totally downplayed. It’s dead, people, and it's time everyone admitted that then tried to move on.

File that "Protector" guise under 'WWE ideas that were never given a fair shake'. Xia was originally envisioned as somebody who'd stand up for the put-upon babyfaces of the roster, but apparently receiving a revolving door of going-nowhere tag-team partners was a much better strategy instead.

Where does Li go from here? Presumably, she keeps her head down and works hard whilst optimistically hoping she'll catch someone with power's eye backstage by putting on top matches. That's easier said than done when you're stripped of any character and given four minutes with Candice LeRae on a show few watch.
