5. Lance Storm
Lance Storm had a great career, with three successful stints in ECW, WCW and WWE (not to mention Japan and Europe). Now semi-retired, he spends his time passing on his vast knowledge to prospective wrestlers at his Storm Wrestling Academy wrestling school in Calgary, Alberta Canada. He's as good a teacher as any, considering his razor-sharp technical skills and his fluidity in the ring. As far as wrestling technique is concerned, there are few as accomplished as Lance Storm. As far as promo work is concerned, however, he could perhaps be taking classes, not giving them. Okay, so he wasn't a terrible promo or anything (and his 'If I can be serious for a minute' catchphrase did get over), but he wasn't especially great, either. He could get a basic point across, yeah, but talk them into the building? Not quite. WWE famously sent Storm the message that they thought he was 'boring' when they had Steve Austin berate him during a match on Raw in 2003. And it's true that Storm wasn't the most exciting guy in the world. He is, by his own admission, reserved and somewhat introverted. So it's fair to say that he could have used someone extroverted and lively to put him over on the microphone and add a little pizazz to the package. Storm had a few managers in his career, notably Dawn Marie in ECW. They instantly made him more interesting. If he had've been afforded a manager in WWE, perhaps WWE wouldn't have felt the need to viciously bury him and his 'boring' personality to a global television audience.
