9 WWE Stars Who Just Needed The Right Manager To Get Over Huge

2. Sean O'Haire

One of the great 'what ifs' in WWE history, Sean O'Haire looked like he could be the next big superstar when vignettes for his new character began airing on Smackdown in early 2003. Playing a 'devil's advocate' character, O'Haire would encourage viewers (and wrestlers) to act badly while trying to justify why, claiming that he wasn't telling them anything they didn't 'already know'. He looked undeniably cool, jacked to the nines and wearing a badass leather trench coat. He had the character, the talent and the look, but he was missing something... WWE realised that O'Haire could use a little help when it came to delivering a live promo and gave him recently-returned legend Roddy Piper as a mouthpiece. It was a smart move because, as confident as O'Haire looked in pre-tapes, reports at the time suggest that he couldn't cut a live promo to save his life, constantly cracking up when he tried to deliver on at house shows. Regrettably, WWE released Piper just a couple of months into their partnership (after Piper made some condemning remarks about the business to an HBO Real Sports programme). After that, O'Haire needed to talk some time off due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. When he returned, WWE had lost interest in him. Had O'Haire found the right manager, someone to expertly put over just how dangerous he was, he could have been a much bigger star. He certainly had the look, size and ability to be, anyway.
